Services / Windows and openings
BP · Openings
Windows and openings, sized and permitted.
New windows, enlarged openings and egress windows for basement bedrooms.
When a window needs a permit
Replacing a window with one the same size in the same opening usually doesn't need a permit. Cutting a new opening or enlarging an existing one changes the structure of the wall, so it usually does.
Egress windows
Basement bedrooms need a window large enough to serve as an emergency exit. Enlarging a basement window often means cutting the foundation wall and adding a window well, which needs a permit and sometimes an engineer.

We gather the information we need, such as your Real Property Report and photos, and sometimes conduct a site visit.
Drawings and review
We prepare your drawings, typically within 5 to 10 business days, and send you a draft to review and approve before anything is submitted.
Submission and approval
We submit the application on your behalf and handle the municipality's questions and revisions until your permit is issued.
